THE EXAMINED LIFE (A very wonderful poem)

An abode for the living,    
Experience of the dead,
Ultimate test for all,
Melting pot of all sorts,
A long lesson in humility.

Too meaningful to be nothing,
Too meaningless to be everything,
Too complex to be described,
Too easy to be examined,
Too vanishing to be imagined.

Sweetening it is, precious it is,
Pleasant it is, beautiful it is,
Short to be worried about,
Not length of life, but depth of life,
It worth living for man.

Journey to everywhere,
But leads to a place,
Peaceful but turbulent abode,
Reality but full of fantasy,
Spherical but without shape.

The flash of a firefly in the night,
The breath of a buffalo in the wintertime,
That is the little shadow,
Which runs across the grass,
And loses itself in the sunset.

Nothing is new, nothing is certain,
Nothing is permanent, nothing is paramount,
Be cautious, be courteous,
Easy and pleasant is it?
Difficult and sour it can be,
Life is everything, but nothing.

It is full of ups and downs,
Here we are, running helter-skelter,
And longing for a glooming future,
Live it as a revelation,
Not just a process of evolution,
Globe of unpredicted concepts.
