Episode 16
We got a bike for Tolani and we started our discussion as we trekked back to the hostel. Did something happen between you and Bisi? Wole asked. “We had sex.” I replied slowly, feeling slightly embarrassed -I don’t even know why I was embarrassed. Wole smiled and said “I knew that would happen anyway.” That got me confused.
He had not allowed me to clear the confusion when he asked with a sudden frown. “Did you use condom?” I said I did and he let out a sigh of relief. I narrated the whole scenario to him as we walked. He listened in ecstasy with a smile on his face perhaps wishing I never get to the end of my story. I was till narrating till we got back to the hostel and we resumed to Wole’s room.
“Now you can call yourself a man.” Wole said, after I had given him the details of what happened in the best way I could. He said he is proud of me. -what he had never said if I perform excellently in examinations. He then advised me on sex life. He told me never to have sex without protections, and not to make it a hobby so I won’t become addicted. He advised me to get a girlfriend and reminded me of Bimbo. He also reminded me of the superstition that used to hold me back and made me realize it is just a mere word to scare me as nothing has happened. Then I remembered the dream, but decided to keep mute on it. He finally promised to give me some tablets to take before having sex so they can help boost my energy.
“Why did you send me that warning message?” I referred back to the message Wole sent to me at the party. I asked that question because it has been disturbing my mind since I got the message. “Oh! That message!” Wole exclaimed. He then explained to me that a guy who is likely to be a cultist called him very late last night to report my action at the party to him. He said I was dancing with his girlfriend which is Bisi thereby preventing Bisi from dancing with him. Then I remembered that a guy actually came and Bisi didn’t give him any form of attention. “The guy said I should call you and warn you to desist from following Bisi, but I told him to calm down as you are just an accomplice, but I still needed to warn you. That is why I texted.”
“But Bisi told me she is single, is she not?” I asked Wole.
“Actually, she was dating that guys in her 100level days and they were seriously in love, but we later heard rumours that they broke up and we were able to confirm it when we stopped seeing both of them together. Some said she caught him on some random girl while some said she suspected he is a cultist. I think the guy still likes Bisi but Bisi seems to be totally out of the game. Inshort, I don’t think she is dating anyone presently, but I think she likes you.” Wole explained in details.
“What do you think I should do now?” I managed to ask. Wole told me not to worry, that the guy and his friends respects him so much, and they dare not harm me because of our relationship. That was a relieve although not completely.
We spoke on some other things and wole shared some of his sexual experiences to me. After a long session of chit chatting, I asked about Tolani. I wanted to know his relationship with her.
He told me Tolani is a very good, decent and respectful girl. He told me he really likes her and wants to be serious with her. He said he has observed that the girl really likes him too, but he is scared. I bursted into laughter upon hearing that. First thing that got me cracked up is that Wole doesn’t usually say something good about girls and if he must do, he will attach something bad about her and another thing is that he said he is scared to ask her out. I wondered if it is the same Wole that I know.
I asked him what makes her unique that is restraining him from asking her out and he said he is not scared to tell her his mind, but he is scared if he can hold on to a long time relationship. Now I reasoned along with him. Something special about Wole that made me like him is the way he reasons, it is so unique and highly intellectual than mine. The only advise I could give him is to start the relationship first, later may be too late. He liked what I said and promised to take quick action.
He brought out his cell phone, called her and activated it to speaker. He asked if she had gotten home and she said “yes”. He thanked her for the visitation and the meal she cooked then requested to meet her the next day and he would not mind coming over to her hostel. Tolani said he will be welcomed and told him to call her before coming over. As the call was still on, I remembered that my phone is not with me. As Wole hung up, I wished him the best of luck and went out of the room to mine. Then, it was completely dark outside.
I got to my room and checked my phone for messages and update. There were missed calls and messages. Three missed calls from Kola who was a friend from home and two missed calls from Bisi. The messages were from network providers.
I called Kola and we spoke at length, he informed me about our colleagues who just gained admission and about his matriculation which is coming up the next Thursday. He asked about ours and I told him the date has not been confirmed. I called Bisi immediately as I hanged up with Kola.
Bisi explained why she called earlier and it was because of what I thought. She also thanked me for attending the party with her and also for the sex we had. “Who should say thank you?” I asked myself, but I hadn’t figured any reasonable answer to that when Bisi asked. “Can I come over to your room tonight?” My room? I asked, also checking the time at the same time and the time was past 9:00pm.
