INJUSTICE

Image result for INJUSTICE in the world
left in a dungeon,
In a deep pit so wide and dark beneath the earth,
Comes a lovely voice overwhelmed by pain, sorrow and anguish,
Which permeates a round tiny hole-the only link connecting the ground to the dungeon,
Allowing tiny rays of light mixed with air to pass through.

Sitting with her back against the rough wall,
Her legs arched up,
Making her knees point to her head,
And her head firmly placed on her knees.
She sobbed profusely but in silence,
Suffering for a crime she never committed,
And awaiting her death day.
Occasionally, she raises up her head to gaze at the little rays of light,
Filtered through the up-hole.
She is angry,
Gnashes her teeth,
Bites her lips,
Shouts NO!!! God where is thy face?
But all hope is lost,
Judgement wrapped with *INJUSTICE* has been given,
Her fate-already decided by corrupt judges.

Brought out of the dungeon,
She is carried to the open square,
Her hands chained backward to meet her legs,
Her head is well laid on the slab,
In readiness for a callous beheading by the swordsman.

Crowd encircled the open square,
Many have their hands on their heads,
Wailing and mourning an innocent soul about to be sent on a journey of no return.
What could they do?
The powers that be have spoken,
Theirs is to pity and watch.

Laying there,
She occasionally looks around the square and closes her eyes almost immediately,
Then, hot tears roll down from her eyes to her cheeks,
Later dropping on the innocent looking ground readily waiting to drink blood.

Even at that,
She still remains beautiful,
Her eyes- though red due to crying,
They remain perfectly shaped.
Her hair; very long and touching her spine but unkempt.
Her dimples are great,
But her cheeks are bony due to starvation.
Her perfect straight legs ached,
Network of veins more elaborately shown on her lovely fading skin,
You could only imagine how beautiful she would be if not in this predicament.

Finally,
His majesty entered with his entourage,
Seated in their regalia with a self satisfying wicked smile,
The king waved at the town crier,
Who read the judgment aloud once again.
Summoned by his majesty,
The swordsman charged at the innocent laying body ready to be beheaded,
She curled up in fear,
He charged at her for the second time,
She wailed aloud for help,
But no help could come,
Her frailed voice permeates the watching crowd,
Making them cry silently but moved back to avoid blood splashed on them.
On the third charge,
Her head is begone,
The angry eyes of the sword quenched with blood,
The ground stained with blood,
Her body; lifeless,
While her head rolled to the feet of the king,
With her eyes widely opened staring directly at the king's face,
Acting as a living man who has identified his killer.
Maybe seeking for answers to the injustice done to it,
Or trying to leave a great question on the conscience of its predator.

All was silent,
People left in twos and threes,
Making comments on the gruesome killing of an innocent soul,
And the great INJUSTICE done in the land.

Bad roads, bad policies, corruption, poor health facilities, insecurity, bad welfare, poor governance, injustice to mention  but a few are punishments meted on the poor nigerians which is undeserved thereby resulting into killing of innocent souls daily.
You all know yourselves. You are all guilty of these great misdeeds. May God smite you all with His heavy hands (AMEN).

This piece is dedicated to all innocent people serving punishments in prisons for crimes they did not commit and souls that have gone beyond in  such precarious situation due to injustice meted out on innocent souls by the politicians, rich and wealthy folks, the armed forces,  especially SARS-a cruel division of the Nigeria's police, the judiciary and the government as a whole.
