The federal government regrets that its huge investments in the energy sector do not translate into an improved energy supply in the country, because DISCOs, which are the electricity distribution companies, have no capacity for an effective distribution of electricity produced by transmission companies.

When he ordered the delivery of the 60 MVA, 132/33 Power Transformer, via the head of the federation's service, HoS, Mrs. Winifred Oyo Ita, in Calabar, Cross River State, yesterday, the government claimed that the power distribution companies the government would rather blame for the poor power supply in the country. According to her:- "There is huge investment in the energy sector across the country, but insofar as the electricity distribution companies do not invest to improve their distribution capacity in such a way that they are able to send this flow to the end users, Nigerians will invest the large amount of money that is invested in energy generation - that's the truth. "We call on them to go back to the drawing board and find out if they do not have the financial power or technical know-how, to be sincere, to come out and to stop frustrating Nigerians and the federal government in poor light. " She said that the commissioning of the transformer was in line with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the field of incremental power supply through transmission rehabilitation and expansion program to strengthen the network and infrastructure for improved tracking capacity.
