Nigeria@57: TIME TO STOP THE COMPLAINTS AND CHANGE OURSELVES.

I woke up this morning reading so many insights of different writers about the situation of the country in her 57years of age. Most of these insights are basically on the problems and shortcomings the country  but I asked myself, despite we realizing all these shortcomings, how have each and every one of us taken our time to deal with these shortcomings from our own end.

I did wake up on every independence day before this day, write a whole lot of thing about the country, the shortcomings of the country, sometimes even proffer solutions to these shortcomings but I realised the country needs more than everyone of us complaining about its situation but try changing it from our own end.

"Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" These are the words of John F Kenedy when serving as the President of United State of America. Let's ask ourselves, in what way have I and you contribute, contributed and also contributing to the development of Nigeria. Instead of always demanding from the country, why not give to the country no matter how little it is.

I once write that "This present government will always be better than the next government", it is the basic truth, before the current President Buhari administration, everyone was complaining about ex President Goodluck Jonathan administration but it is surprising that I now hear people say they wished ex President Jonathan was still the president of the country. The government can not please every citizen, It can only do its own part and leave the rest for us. Hence, we have to stop complaining and change ourselves.

How many of us wake up and remember Nigeria in our prayers. How many of us wake up and say the clause "God bless Nigeria" instead we did rather say "The country is bad", some even go to the extent of saying "Nigeria will never get better". This is wrong, remember Nigeria in your prayers, the little you have, give it out to the needy, help a Nigerian if you have the power to, and if you don't, remember the country in prayers instead of complaining and condemning it with the words of your mouth.

Ask an Average Nigerian what he will do if he becomes the President of the country, you will hear him say "I will take care of my self, my family, embezzle the embezzleable". How do we expect change in the country if all we keep doing is thinking about ourselves and our family all alone.
The principle of unity and oneness is no longer in existence. All for one,one for all. Our forefathers fought so hard, remained in oneness to get this independence and after getting the independence, the started to turning against each other.

"To defend her Unity,Uphold her honour and glory" where did we put our pledge. Nobody is thinking about nobody, maybe we should try and help somebody, instead of being somebody that does it and make it new so everyone can talk about it and four weeks later, Nobody is talking about it.
Let the complaint stop and let's change ourselves. Believe, Support and Pray for Nigeria, we will be great again.

Happy Independence day.
Uthman Adigun LENIN
